The ISO 20022 standard for the financial sector – what it's all about and how we can support you
ISO 20022 provides you with a global standard for all message formats in the financial sector, which is constantly being further developed and enables a rich and structured use of data. In Germany, the message types of the ISO 20022 standard are used for SEPA payments and foreign payments as well as for electronic sales information which customers can send or retrieve via EBICS.
With Annex 3 "Specification of data formats" of the DFÜ-Agreement, the German Banking Industry Committee (GBIC) provides a collection of standardized and permissible ISO 20022 formats. These publications are the basis for the implementation in payment transaction applications, for example. The GBIC also publishes a format lifecycle, which shows until when the respective versions of the formats will be supported.
The Format Wizard supports you with the onboarding of your payment transactions at DZ BANK and the migration to new format versions by independently comparing test files from your systems against the valid schemas and usage rules, correcting them directly or download them with comments. In addition there is also the option of simulating response messages or simply and easily adapt the sample files provided in order to test the processing of these messages in your own systems.
To use the Format Wizard, a registration is required. Choose the login link below and select "New user? Register".
After entering the required login data, you will be activated promptly and informed by e-mail.
The language (German, English) can be preset in the user profile (accessible top right) and the deletion of the test files can be set after definable periods of time (default: older than 30 days).
The Format Wizard supports you in technically validating test messages before they are actually sent to DZ BANK and, if necessary, simulating derived messages based on them and testing whether they can be processed in your own systems.

Validation of test messages
- Select the environment against which you want to validate your test data
- Upload the file to be tested -> show details

- Info: Notes and information, no customization necessary
- Warning: Recommendations that do not necessarily have to be adapted
- Errors (schema validation, technical check against xsd or validation of usage rules): In both cases, an adjustment of the error mentioned is necessary

- Error correction directly in the displayed XML structure with the possibility of a new validation taking into account the adjustments or supplementing the file with information from the validation report (comment XML) and then downloading the file for forwarding

- Select the environment against which you want to validate your test data

- Selection of the desired derive (Payment Status Report) with freely selectable reason codes from the following scenarios:
- Positive report - overall acceptance technical
- Positive report - file posting
- Negative report - total rejection in advance
- Negative report - rejection of the first transaction
- Negative message - rejection of every second transaction
- Negative message - rejection of all transactions
- Download the simulated file for forwarding and checking the processing.
